In 1865, a company was founded in Osnabrück to manufacture gas meters. The company has been engaged in the production of gas equipment, industrial furnaces and boilers since 1925. In 2006 the company was renamed to its current name, and in 2007 the company became part of the Elster GmbH corporation.

Today the brand is one of the world leaders in the production of control and measuring equipment, including products used in gas supply systems.
